Environmental Week Homework

As we have been looking at so many environmental issues this week, your homework is going to be paperless! I’d like you to blog your homework here.

We watched a film last week that showed a possible future where the world is over heating due to global warming. Imagine that you are living in that future. I would like you to write EXACTLY 100 words using the prompt…

‘The heat was unbearable.’

Remember that this must be included in your 100 words.

Good luck.

The heat was unbearable, I thought to myself. Why didn’t make a difference when we could. Now we are frying on this little earth.School is closed. My mum has lost her job. My dad still works though he is a world wide news presenter. This means I don’t get to see him much. I can only call him once a week. So I talk to him through the TV. It is all I can do these days it is to hot to go out side the house is stuffy as it is, so all I do is watch the weather.

The heat was unbearable. The sun stood in the middle of the sky, refusing to move, firing missiles of heat down. You could almost see them as rippling waves that bounced off the grey concrete paths, and reflected up to hit you. The air was dry and felt heavy with the stench of burnt petrol fumes. Beads of sweat trickled down my forehead, my blood boiled with rage. I just wanted it to all stop. If only people cared and made a difference in the world before, it wouldn’t be so hot like this. EVERYONE has a part to play!!!

My whole family sat in silence as the heat blazed through our front window. We were too hot and tiered to play a family game, like we used to. No, instead my was dad reading his book but struggling as his sweat dripped down onto the text, my mum sat there in panic, with her sunglasses on her face. They used to be a fashion accessory for the rich and famous however now they are a practical daily object! The heat was unbearable, this big orange dot in the sky use to make everyone cheer in the summer but cheers are painful to make.
Hi mr sumner, there are 104 words there as you said that the prompt did not count in the 100 words!

    She pressed the button.

Suddenly the whole world started moving round and round and Sophie felt like she was moving in circles and the time machine was actually working! CRASH. She had landed the heat was unbearable and the smell. Let’s just say it wasn’t nice. Sophie jumped out of the cardboard box and slowly walked up to the deserted rubbish tip.
“Do you know why the world is like this?” said a robot coming out behind the tip,” this is exactly where your house is in 2000 years and it will be the humans fault.”
“What have we done to the world and how did my time machine actually work?” said Sophie in a confused tone,” What did the humans do?”
“woah too many questions one at a time! Your time machine worked because god made everyone for a special reason and your destiny is to save the world and tell everyone how to do that!” exclaimed the robot ,”here’s a list of what you need to do, go away and show them to the world !”

    • Turn of lights
    • Don’t put things on stand by

If you follow thses steps you could save the world too!

Sitting in that stupidly hot classroom with sweat dripping down everyone’s faces[The heat was unbearable.]I thought to myself how did the world get like this? People just used to complain about a few drips of rain and wished that it was hotter but now the world is too hot and it is getting hotter every minute because people are using a lot more energy and gas then they should be like: leaving lights on when they don’t need to be on and leaving computers and Tvs on stand by. There were 31,035,791 cars on British roads at the end of last year. That is a lot of gas and fuel.

The heat was unbearable! Yet the heavens continued to rain down on us, like onethousands tiny bullets. It was gods way of telling us we should have made difference when we had the chance, we should have changed. But I suppose we’re humans, we only care about our selves. Just then an old lady named Hope Lennox hobbled past.
“Oi, why didn’t you try? Why didn’t stop it!? You could have changed this. Why didn’t you?” I shouted not thinking about anything but wishing it would stop.
“I tried!” she replied looking as upset as I was,” No one else would listen.”

Today wasn’t like any other days. Instead of wearing shorts and short tops we had to wear our swimsuits and swim in the big river. My mother told me, when she was little, her mother said that the big river used to be a huge sea! I mean how crazy is that? The heat was unbearable; me and Gina (my BFF) sneaked off and hid in the only cold place in the whole world … The Community Fridge. Me and Gina (whenever we get too hot) go there just sitting in it cooling off and eating delish food.

The heat was unbearable I was sat in my room so hot and stuffy I couldn’t bear it, I felt like I was going to die. My two sisters were being really restless it was so annoying. My mum and dad were sat in the living room eating ice creams that was what we spent most of our money on because it was that hot. Who did this to the world…? This is what we can do to help: turn off light when not in use, don’t leave TV’s on standby, and turn off plug sockets when not in use.
